Simon Wang

Simon joined Luminous in 2022 as a Senior Portfolio Manager, bringing more than 15 years of portfolio management experience in global equity and multi-asset discretionary mandates. Prior to Luminous, he was a Senior Portfolio Manager with Reyl Intesa Sampaolo where he managed global equity fund mandates for the global investment team and multi-asset discretionary mandates for wealth management clients. Before Reyl, he was an equity fund manager with Singapore Unit Trusts (a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad) where he managed Unit Trust Funds for retail clients.

Simon earned his B. Eng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Benjamin Lim

Portfolio manager

Benjamin is the Portfolio Manager for the Luminous Vietnam and Indochina Growth Fund. Based in Singapore, he has over 14 years of investment management experience in portfolio management and equity research.

Benjamin joined Luminous from RHB Asset Management, where he led a team of equity analysts and provided research coverage across Technology, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors for the Asia Pacific portfolio. At Duxton Asset Management, he managed the Vietnam Phoenix Fund between 2019 and 2020, and generated outperformance net of fees for the period. His prior investment experience included equity research roles at Deutsche Asset Management (now DWS), Daiwa Capital Markets, Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation and Credit Suisse.

Ben holds a Master of Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Management (majoring in Finance and Economics) from Singapore Management University.

Damien Chua

Damien joined Luminous in 2022 as a Portfolio Manager, hailing from AL Capital, where he co-managed A$30-50m, identifying long/short opportunities in Asia Pacific equities. Earlier at RHB Asset Management, Lion Global Investors, and Daiwa Asset Management, in addition to co-managing Asia-ex-Japan funds, he developed regional investment strategies for technology, consumer and industrial sectors. He is armed with 10 years of experience as an Asian equities analyst.

Damien studied Accounting at Nanyang Technological University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a CPA.

Tuyen Nguyen

SENIOR Analyst

Tuyen has over 12 years of equity investment experience. She joined from VinaCapital Group where she was Senior Investment Associate covering the equity portion of a balanced fund. Previously, Tuyen spent 7 years with Mirae Asset Global Investments, where she started her career as an Equity Research Analyst and progressed eventually to become a Portfolio Manager managing IPO funds.

Tuyen holds a Bachelor of Banking & Finance from Banking University HCMC, and a Fund Management Certificate granted by State Securities Commission of Vietnam.

Sophia Truong

Analyst

Quynh joined from Oriental Commercial Bank where she was an Investment Banking Associate with responsibility for cross-border M&A deals for Japanese clients. Previously, she spent 2 years with Rhinos Asset Management, where she started her career as an Investment Analyst.

Quynh holds a Bachelor of Finance and Marketing (First Class Honors) from Keele University, and a Fund Management Certificate granted by the State Securities Commission of Vietnam.

Alex Xu

equity analyst

Alex joined Luminous in 2024, bringing with him a strong background in global technology investing and financial analysis. Alex was previously with Reyl Singapore, where he specialized in long/short equity strategies across the global hardware and software technology sectors. Prior to Reyl Singapore, Alex held roles at KPMG and Standard Chartered Bank, where he gained experience in advisory and corporate finance.

Alex holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School and a Bachelor in Economics and Finance from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Holly Howson

Director of investments

Holly joined Luminous in 2023 as Director of Investments, based in Europe. Her responsibilities entail identifying investment opportunities in various asset classes, including hedge funds. Holly started her career at Citigroup, where she spent almost 10 years in total between London and Singapore focusing on commodity derivative sales. Prior to joining Luminous, Holly worked in digital assets, bridging the gap between traditional financial institutions and blockchain capabilities.

Holly obtained a 1st class BA Honours degree in Business Economics from the University of Exeter.
